Hook a maze rug for that special child

By: Norma Press

The Internet is a great source of project ideas for children, and I frequently print mazes for my grandchildren from free websites. They enjoy doing mazes so much that it occurred to me they might like a hooked rug based on a maze. I have made three very different maze rugs that were easy and fun to work on. Most importantly, the children love them!

You can find almost any shape of maze on the Internet. Search for mazes that are free for individual and classroom use. I prefer mazes that follow the shapes of the objects rather those with rigid grids imposed on the objects. You’ll find mazes ranging from easy to difficult and maze artwork from simple to elaborate. When hooking a concentric shape, be careful not to hook the center too tightly or it will not lie flat.
