Animals were popular subjects with our readers in the Celebration XXI Readers’ Choice contest, with half of our top-ten rugs featuring animals in their theme. Horses, lion, sheep, cows . . . they all capture our imagination and year after year we enjoy the many delightful animal rug entries received for the Celebration contest.
In Original Designs, Free Spirits, Mary Beth Westcott’s running horses, was the clear favorite of the voters, but the votes for the other places were so tight that we had to declare a tie for third place between Fishing Day and Hunter. A Memory of the Baltic Sea, Hildegardt Sawyer’s wistful rug of tribute to her homeland, garnered second.
