RHM Copyright Policy
Rug Hooking Magazine’s policy on copying patterns and designs published in our magazine:
We must all be careful to respect a rug designer’s work. RHM encourages all readers to obey the copyright laws. All designs in RHM are copyrighted by the designer, and as such, are the designer’s property. Rug designs are often included in articles to demonstrate a technique or style; do not copy these without permission from the author.
To summarize:
Pattern Inserts in RHM: These are designed specifically to be used by magazine subscribers as they wish, one time personal use, not to be made for sale. Kits and patterns may be purchased initially through RHM, later from the pattern designer.
Patterns included in an article, for instance, a small diagram of a rug design included in an article: These may be used by magazine subscribers as they wish, one time personal use, but are not to be sold. Some of these patterns may be available from the pattern designer. Check with the author of the article.
Articles with a rug, but no pattern included: Do not reproduce or copy these designs without contacting the original designer. The designs fall under copyright law, and are therefore protected from unauthorized use.
