Dear Beginning Rug Hooker: Scattered Leaves

Since I have many pieces for my wall and floors, I decided to make a small mat for a centerpiece for the table. And, as I was thinking about the approaching season, my project would include falling leaves. I used the variety of leaves from my backyard for inspiration. The design stage is my favorite part of any project. I intended this to be used on the tabletop, so I needed to remember that as I designed. Notice that the central part of the design is empty space. This is so a bowl or vase or something similar can be placed in the middle without hiding the design elements.
