A Flock of Birds to Hook From One Pattern

I walked the dirt road near my home almost daily. A canopy of trees provided a sturdy trellis for wild grapevines and a haven for birds—especially berry-eating birds. A fond childhood memory, mixed with a hint of Fraktur design, prompted this work. Shaded from summer sun, the pressed clay earth felt cool and smooth on my bare feet. Fieldstone formed natural walls along both sides of the road. These stone barriers were skillfully constructed by farmers as they cleared their plowed fields each spring
