"It was my idea to hook a friendship rug in the literal sense by incorporating my Wednesday rug hooking group into the piece. With ten people, it became quite a large piece. I did not want it to look like there were people floating all over, so I needed to ground it by filling up the piece as much as possible. Each person hooked themselves, and I filled in the rest with things dear to me, for instance, coloured lights, colourful furniture, my two dogs, the birds outside my window. What a fun piece this was to hook as I moved from area to area. It was never boring. I was able to finish it off with my trademark black and white beading. I feel very honoured that it was purchased by our new Royal Alberta Museum for their contemporary textile collection. This piece portrays our group of dedicated hooking friends who participated in hooking it and encouraging and inspiring me along the way."
