"With a family member living in Alaska, several of my visits to the north inspired rugs. When leaving my cabin to go to the main house, I was once surprised by a moose silently standing nearby with legs looking like trees. In the winter, the brief period of what might be considered daylight is often a dusty plum sky with a few warm streaks. I mixed up a plum dye recipe and overdyed textures and solids for the sky and the snow. As I hooked the moose, the real challenge, I kept muttering 'A face only a mother could love.' "
