First Rug on the Last Page: Willie

When I first started researching rug hooking online late one fall, I came across some of Judy Carter’s work in Hooking Animals. It was fascinating how lifelike her work was. I got her book and I was “hooked.”  Since animals were exactly what I wanted to do, I emailed her after purchasing her book. I find this a fantastic book for new hookers. Judy’s death is a huge loss to the rug hooking world. 

My first project was based on a photo of a bulldog named Willie Nelson. (I breed and show bulldogs in the conformation ring).  Willie Nelson is sweet and playful. He loves to chase balls and pick up large plastic flower bed pots, which end up over his head. He is a clown and a happy guy.
