Readers’ Gallery: Jean Ottosen

My two daughters loved nursery rhymes and poetry. They dictated stories and verse to me before they could write and read. Their fascination with poetry continued well after they learned to read and write. My fascination with how interested they were in it continues.

Over the years I collected their poetry. In 2012 I approached them about using it as inspiration for some of my rug hooking. Soon I had permission to use twenty-four poems.I started hooking the first wall hanging, Quinzhee, in 2012. My eldest daughter had just discovered the visual impact text can make on a page.
