Painted Landscapes

I have often painted wool for skies for both my own projects and my student’s projects. So I was intrigued by the possibilities of taking it to the next level. It was time for me to try painting an entire landscape. Here are some tips to guide you.

Plan Carefully

The first thing you have to decide is whether you want to cut and hook your wool vertically or horizontally. That will determine the dimensions of the wool you will be painting.

When painting a landscape vertically, the length of the wool will be determined by the size of the finished piece and the cut that you plan to use. If you decide on a narrow cut, 4 times the length is sufficient. If you use a wider cut, you will need 5 to 6 times the length.
