Rug Hooking Magazine

January/February 2012

Happy New Year!  On the cover: La Mer a L'Estaque,  hooked by Jocelyn Guindon.  To find out more about this beautiful rug, please make sure to read Part II of Anne-Marie Littenberg's article about Jocelyn in this issue.

As we turn the page on another year move into 2012, Rug Hooking has many things to celebrate, not the least of which is that we've added pages to the magazine!   That gives us an opportunity to cover even more rug hooking news.  But even adding pages just doesn't give us  enough space for everything we would like to bring you, so that why we are launching a new online magazine called Rug Beat.  It will be filled with human interest stories and fascinating tidbits that we're not able to include in the magazine.  It will be published 4 times a year and you can subscribe now!  The first issue will be emailed the second week of January.

Celebration XXI is now available!  Don't miss your opportunity to order it today,  just click order now

From Our Readers

We'd love to see your winter-themed rugs! Please share them here.

Welcome Rugs (26)

Welcome rugs - Do you have one? Have you hooked one? Send us a photo and the story behind it! The half-round welcome rugs, or threshold rugs, are a time-honored tradition in the world of hooked rugs, dating back to the 18th century. As far back as the early 1900s, possibly earlier, hookers could buy commercial patterns for these threshold rugs. They are a part of our history. Are welcome rugs, especially the half-round design, still popular with rug hookers? We'd like to see what is happening these days with this charming, quaint style of rug. Share your rug with our readers. Important Note: There are two ways you can leave your contact information. You can leave your name and email address for all viewers to see. Or, if you choose not to have that information public, be sure to click the "No" button in the "Name and E-mail Public" section.
