"Bowl of Flowers was an exercise for me in redesigning part of a design by a pattern maker. I loved the center motif, but the original border didn’t work for me. Julie Marie Smith was instrumental and encouraging me to try different designs on each edge of the border. The results worked! This rug is placed at the entry to my office, and it makes me smile every time I see it. The colors are still rich and inviting. It was started at a time (in the '90s) when I still used a lot of my hand-dyed fabric, but you can see many pieces of as-is textured wools being incorporated. "
