"I had saved this picture from a calendar several years ago. I loved the beautiful fall picture of a country store with a 'woody' parked outside. Since it did not have the name of the artist on it, I went to...yes, Google...and found the image. I contacted George Kovach, the artist, and requested permission to hook an adaptation of his painting. He granted permission and enjoyed seeing the finished rug.

Loved hooking the old car! It was fun to think about cars from long ago and how they have changed. Also, this is the first rug that had many shadows... especially on the roof. It was interesting to see how a mauve color brings out the shadows.

The detail in this rug was the most challenging. As I have done in previous detailed rugs, I used the method to hooking details described by Eric Sandberg in Rug Hooking magazine (Le Chateau Rug). I turn my rug up side down while hooking the details. I find that I am not concentrating on getting the exact image hooked but getting the position of the colors right. Once right side up... the image magically appears!"
