A Good Finish, Part Three

Part 3 Of A Series On Finishing Techniques

Ask the Experts A Good Finish

I like this finish for a pillow because it gives the impression of a piped edge that enhances the hooking.
Once the hooking is finished, trim the excess backing down to approximately 1 1 /2"; serge or zigzag the edges to prevent fraying. Take the excess off the corners, but leave at least an inch so that it will cover the cording. If you have some fabric that is not good for hooking, you might use it for the pillow backing if it co-ordinates with the colors in the design.
