Beautiful Backgrounds

Discovering different ways to hook backgrounds was a journey and learning experience. In this series of articles, I will share the sources I found along the way so you can consult them as well. 

Often, I experiment with a background idea on a small piece, like a hooked trivet, as this involves minimal expense and risk. I would encourage you to do the same when you want to try out a new idea or type of background. Often a rug is so full of color and design that a solid-colored background is all that is needed. However, there are other times when you want more highlights and lowlights, more color, more texture, more movement or more design.
