My more than forty years in the immigration law field have been intense, frustrating at times, and immensely rewarding. In 2005, after ten years of being an Immigration Judge in San Francisco, I craved a creative outlet to be a counterpoint to the horrific stories of asylum seekers. Singing in a choir helped but wasn’t enough. My aunt, Emma Webber, and my cousin, Laura Pierce, convinced me to give rug hooking a try in 2008. I started with Laura’s patterns, and eventually began making my own.
