A Journey from the Edge

It all started with a shape. It wasn’t just any shape. It was a big, curvy, sassy shape. It was a shape so bold it dared me to start a new piece of rug hooking by finishing the whipped edge first. A Karl Lagerfeld fashion show seems an unlikely place to unleash such a bass-ackward idea, but when I saw a bird’s eye view of the organic curvilinear runway for his Spring Summer 2012 collection I was smitten. Forget the clothes—the curvaliscious runway made me swoon. With a feverish sense of bravado I gathered jumbo size cording, some linen backing and whipped up my own runway. Now what? . . .
