John J. Province, Jr.

Dimensions: 10" x 12"

"I found this charming photograph of my husband’s only brother in his mother’s things. He was almost fifteen years older than my husband, so the scene is typical of the 1920s. I loved the wicker settee and the wooden toy horse, as well as the white linen suit and patent leather shoes that he was wearing.

Getting a likeness of the face is always a huge challenge, but I followed my teacher’s advice to start with the face first. It was a joy to hook, and I was pleased to give it to his wife when I finished it."
