"Susan Feller asked me to participate in a theme challenge about the effects of color in our rugs. I chose blue as my primary color (no pun intended) and chose a mermaid as my subject. Blue, for me, is a soothing, cool, placid color, and so I thought a mermaid underwater would be a great design idea. I chose to hook her face and tail as the indicators that she's actually a mermaid; her body is out of the frame completely. Instead of making it solely a blue monochromatic, I added orange seahorses and a starfish hair barrette for some complementary balance."
