"Having hooked my daughter in Donna Hrkman’s class, I felt the need to even it up by hooking my son in another of Donna’s classes.
I feel like every aspect of the piece was challenging. In fact, I chose to hook these portraits to prove that I could do it. In the end, I loved doing them, so I know that portraits will be something that I continue to hook. The most challenging thing would be hooking his hair using the colours that I actually saw in the photo, even though green, of course is not actually in his hair. The background woodwork was also challenging as it was the last thing I hooked and I was anxious to be finished. My favourite thing about Jesse is the cheeky look in his eyes. This is one of his endearing traits. I will always remember his happiness and delight when I presented it to him."
