Add a Little Poison

Embellishment, Texture, and Striking Color in Your Rug

By: Judith M. McLean
Halloween Witch

I’ve been a quilter for over 25 years and a rug hooker for 20, so I laugh when I hear the phrase, “You need a little poison in your project.” The phrase originally related to spicing up a quilt with that tiny bit of poison (an unusual or bright color). It certainly carries over to the rug that needs a little something. The “poison” in this article will be a strategically placed intense color, embellishment, or use of varying cuts of wool to add texture and detail.
