Rug hooking in Tennessee

By: Kris Miller/Spruce Ridge Studios; Photography by Amanda Herring

Are you a rug hooker who also happens to share the love of hunting for antiques?  Are you a history buff who loves the Civil War period? Maybe youre a fellow country music aficionado? Have you ever eaten at a Meat and Three? Or maybe you prefer a quiet afternoon, enjoying the view of gently rolling hills and the crisp fall colors of the Tennessee countryside while sipping a glass of wine. You can enjoy all of these things and more when you join me for the Historic Franklin Rug Hooking Retreat!

The Historic Franklin Rug Hooking Retreat takes place on October 20–24, 2019, at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Franklin, Tennessee. The hotel is conveniently located right off of I-65, approximately 18 miles south of Nashville, Tennessee. The area is surrounded with shopping and lots of restaurants. Beautiful historic downtown Franklin is just four miles away and is a mecca of antique shops, boutiques, galleries, and delicious eateries. For the history buff, there are two interesting Civil War properties to explore: Carnton Plantation and the Carter House/Lotz House. You may also want to visit the Arrington Vineyards, co-owned by country music artist Kix Brooks. Golf courses abound for those spouses who wish to play a few rounds.

The October weather is delightful in Tennessee! Nashville offers many sightseeing opportunities for those who would like to extend their trip before or after our retreat. The Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Johnny Cash Museum, and the Grand Ole Opry are just a few of the many attractions.
