Basket and Apple Bucket

Dimensions: 22" x 31"
Materials: #4- & #6-cut wool on linen
Designed and hooked by Karen Maddox, Kerrville, Texas, 2004.
Featured in: Celebration XV

"On a bright sunny day, I put the bucket and basket in the yard. I was interested in the texture of the basket but needed to tell more of a “story.” I decided apples spilling from the bucket would be the story, thus, the wording 'An apple a day...' to let the viewers finish the story in their own minds. I dip-dyed the rim of the basket then sprinkled dry dye on the dyed brown wool to give the basket a textured look. The bucket and apples were hooked with swatches."
