"Sunrise has all the wonderful possibilities of a new day and the joy of a new beginning. The rich variety of colours in a sunset can be seen at sunrise—if you get up! This is the view from Vancouver Island back towards the mainland.

Again I am combining punching and hooking—hooking cloth strips for the foreground trees, water and islands and punching a wide variety of yarns for the sky. By varying the materials and technique used, the contrast between sky and water is very apparent, and yet they are a reflection of each other."
