"The Monterey Bay is another of our favorite spots to visit in California. We had seen the Organ Grinder and his monkey on several trips to the Fisherman’s Wharf there. This time he had a new, golden, antique cart for his organ. From a number of photographs, I composed the design for my hooking.
Two challenges: the monkey getting his coin from my granddaughter and the masts of the many boats in the harbor. I always have lots of beautifully dyed wool pieces from my stash that I have collected from various teachers from many classes through the years, so it is just a matter of choosing the colors to express the essence of the scene.
I was honored to have this hooking chosen for the cover and an inside feature in Paulette Hackman’s book, Story Rugs and their Storytellers, published by Rug Hooking magazine."
