Three Padulas

Dimensions: 34" x 22"
Materials: #8-cut wool on linen
Designed and hooked by Laura Pierce, Petaluma, California, 2004.
Featured in: Celebration XV

"Three Padulas was shown in the first Celebration Rug Show in York, PA. I went out to see the show and was overwhelmed by all the beautiful rugs, the 'Playing Cards,' and so many rug hooking vendors. It was certainly much more than anything I’d seen in California!
Three Padulas was inspired by the Pacific Northwest Hookers at Friends by the Sea Rug Camp in Rockaway Beach, OR. I designed this whimsical floral for a wide-cut workshop our guild was having with Robin Price. Working with wide-cut, over-dyed plaids, and bright colours was fast and fun! The background was hooked with recycled wool over-dyed with Antique Black, a dye recipe I found in Rug Hooking magazine."
