"My father had a herd of Hereford cows on our farm in Iowa. I have always thought they are the nicest looking breed with their white faces and dark red bodies. King is a tribute to my brother’s first 4-H project. Not having a picture of King, I found a photo on the internet by James Wheeler.
I started with the nose, and it went in perfectly the first time. All the wool used in King and the grasses were previously dyed for different projects. The hair on the face needed to have strong contrast in order to show the swirls."
