"This photograph was taken in Brooklyn, NY, in 1928. It is of my husband’s family who immigrated from Sicily to NY. My husband’s grandfather Giovanni (Papa), his Uncles Louis (who hated swimming and was shy about the way he looked so he would not put on his bathing suit), Uncle Nino (who thought he was quite the lady’s man even in his 90s), Sally (Big Nonnie), and finally his mom, Esther (Little Nonie). I think the best part of this rug was listening to the memories and stories this rug brought back to Esther as she looked at it. I hooked this rug in a matter of months because I was so in love with translating the photograph into a hooked memory."
