Ask the Experts: A Good Finish

Double whipping with a rolled forward edge

By: Carol Shewan

A good finishing technique is as important as good hooking technique, so take time to execute it to the best of your ability to enhance the finished project. In the last installment I showed how to whip the edge with cording. This time I will show you how I double whip  and roll the edge forward, without any cording. Whatever kind of finishing you plan to put on a rug, it starts at the very beginning of the project when you hook a straight row around the outer edge of your border. This will create a straight row of hooking to guide the finishing procedure.
