Hooking whimsical creations with ribbons--colorful, creative, and appealing

It all started with a call for submissions for an exhibition in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The theme was "Just for Fun," and the goal was to use unusual materials for any particular craft.

The first thought that came to my mind was, "What unusual materials could I incorporate into rug hooking?" Machine and hand-spun yarn, fancy yarns, cut wool, cut fabric, panty hose, roving—what else could I possibly use? Maybe ribbons?
