Doodle your way to a primitive rug

By: Mary Johnson / Designs in Wool

When I first started rug hooking over 20 years ago, I was drawn to antique folk art rugs, primitive in style, with washed soft colors as if they had aged gracefully beside a chair in a sunny east-facing window or hung above an entryway table getting the last rays of an afternoon sun. Those muted old colors and primitive style drew me in and soothed my soul.
