Cozy Cabin
A Perfect Pattern for Winter Hooking
Cozy Cabin, 14" x 14", #3- and 4-cut wool on linen. Designed by Joan Moshimer and hooked by Lisanne Miller, Wells, Maine, 2017.
Cozy Cabin is a wonderful pattern to explore different color palettes. Take a break from your normal rug hooking colorways, and use your stash or that perfect piece of dyed wool you have been saving for a special project. The simplicity of the pattern lends itself to many different looks: a realistic winter scene, a fall foliage romp, springtime in the country, or a bucolic summer scene. Or, go wild and try a tone-on-tone monochromatic look. This pattern is sure to please.
The color palette for this version of Cozy Cabin was carefully selected and limited to just a few shades for a dramatic effect. Keeping to just shades of blue gray, mixing textures with dyed pieces to create a seamless flow, and sculpting certain aspects of the structure all make the cabin appear to be tucked into the hills during a snowy winter.
