"I am a flatlander from the Chicago area, and after a move to Pittsburgh, I was so inspired by the sight of all the houses up and down the hills along the Allegheny River. The lights in the houses made them seem so welcoming on a gray winter night. While sitting at stop lights, I studied the homes for two years and then drew typical buildings. Shops and multiple family dwellings were usually at the base, and the bigger houses were higher on the hills. Still my favorite rug, the biggest challenge was recombining my limited color scheme on the last two houses."
- Fritz Mitnick, Celebration Hall of Fame 2018
