Colorful Leaves
From Summer to Autumn to Whimisical
From my front window, I admire a large maple tree as I enjoy my morning coffee. This tree is part of my morning routine, my transition from waking to intentionally starting the day. No matter the season, I enjoy this tree.
In the summertime, I love the shade and dappled light from the leaves. Near the end of August, I know that a change is coming as we move from summer days to sweater weather, and my much-loved tree begins to confirm these feelings. We can’t always anticipate what will happen next, but the changing of the seasons remains predictable. So, while I enjoy the warmth of the summer sun, I sort the sweaters in my dresser in anticipation of the changes in the leaves on my maple tree.
Here is a maple leaf project to express those feelings of change. It is hooked on a hoop and is an easy and quick-to-finish project. Once you have done one, you may want to do more. Change the colors—make them warmer for fall by using oranges and warm reds. Or start with a green leaf and make a transitional set of leaves. Or make one in your favorite color, as I have done—a purple leaf! Most of all, relax and have fun.
