Exclusive Pattern: Penny Garden
One cottage garden three ways
Penny Garden, 36" x 22", #8- and 8.5-cut wool strips on linen. Designed and hooked by Laurie Lausen/Wooly Red Rug, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 2013.
Spring is usually slow to take hold here on the northern prairie, so I love to fill the studio with my imaginary gardens. When a dear friend saw my doodle for this rug, she suggested it would be perfect for a needle-punched piece or for wool appliqué as well. I accepted her challenge to expand my rug idea and offer you here three fun ways to use this pattern. So, gather your tools and your wool or thread, and I’ll meet you in the garden shed.
