"This wall hanging reflects a prairie getaway house we owned in Southeastern Alberta. We escaped to this home mostly on weekends, and it became a regular outing to go to the local bar on Saturday nights where they often had live music. On one particular night we met the Tim Hus band. We ended up becoming friends. Tim Hus played a song called Hotel Saloon, one of my favourites. My challenge was to give the piece the look of a small town country bar, as well as incorporating my bright colour palette with coloured lights. The rose in the corner is our provincial wild rose flower, and it was an afterthought to have it jutting out of the frame. I hooked my signature to resemble a beer logo. Hooking the background blue in an uneven, wavy pattern was the result of running out of the red dyed background wool."
